Basket Range Wine was brought into being by Phillip Broderick in 1980 at Basket Range, situated between Lenswood and the Piccadilly Valley in the cool climate Adelaide Hills.  Our first vineyard soon gave way to our current position a little higher up the hill and of many more hectares.

A sunny aspect and steep slopes produce consistently high quality grapes - Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir and Saperavi.  Each year a small proportion is retained to produce the Basket Range Cabernet Blend, as well as a Pinot when Phillip is moved to do so.  We look forward to the Saperavi becoming productive so it can join the range.

Each vintage Vino Cotto is made, using the traditional method, and always popular.

About Us

Phillip Broderick has been growing grapes at Basket Range, in the Adelaide Hills, since 1980. A small vineyard was planted focusing on mainly Bordeaux varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot.  In 2000 as a family we moved up the hill next door and planted a larger vineyard of ten acres, comprising Bordeaux varieties and Pinot Noir, later including Saperavi.  It's here that we've continued to grow and make wine, producing around 600 dozen bottles of wine per year.

Our sons, Louis and Sholto have taken on much of the viticulture, introducing or building upon new and existing methods of farming, organically.
