History
In 1980, with a passion for red wine and a recently acquired property in the idyllic Adelaide Hills, Phillip Broderick decided to take the obvious step: plant a vineyard.
The choice of grape varieties wasn't difficult - wines from the Bordeaux region being a joy to drink, then Bordeaux varieties were the vines to plant.
The first commercial vintage was in 1988, winning a medal in the fledgling Adelaide Hills Wine Show.
Over the years, with trial and error, grafting and further planting our vineyard now produces cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot for the production of the annual Basket Range Cabernet Blend. The 21st Century saw a move higher up the hill to a larger vineyard, of 10 acres, where the tradition lives on and the vines thrive in the sunny aspect.
Our wine is single vineyard and estate grown, made by Phillip.
